The heARTist
The heARTist
Spent a fun morning making #art #work with my daughters and my niece. I’ve fallen in love with #waterbrush pens!
The Research Committee of the #AmericanArtTherapyAssociation developed a listing of art therapy outcomes and single-subject studies that may be useful for purposes of #research, grant writing, demonstrating support for an art therapy program, and as evidence of the effects of art therapy with various client populations.
I watch the angry purple and green bruising from the #hysterectomysurgery slowly fade and the pink and brown of the fresh healthy scar forming along my surgical incision. A recent 2018 study found that a typical 50-minute art therapy session significantly reduced #pain, #mood and #anxiety levels, regardless of gender, age or diagnosis. Moreover, the type of #media (primarily paint, beads, and mixed media) was not found to make a difference.
The progress of the effectiveness of #ArtTherapy over the last 15 years was looked at in a #systematic #literature review. This research field has extended its scope and is flourishing.
I feel the color returning to my face. I’m grateful for all the hues of healing.
Here’s my favorite piece from today’s art fest, I call it Cabin Fever
